In order to make the transition from a traditional health organisation to an e-business with web-based applications for business processes and patient safety, existing business models need to be reassessed and reviewed. The question is no longer when modern information and communication technologies will start to influence health care, but rather how technological possibilities can be implemented in order to provide maximum advantage for patients and other protagonists.
